FAQs

Common Questions

How far in advance should I book my pet's health certificate?

+
It really depends on your destination — that's why the first step is always a call. For domestic US flights, USDA regulations require the certificate to be issued within 10 days of departure, so we need to see your pet in that window. For international travel, requirements vary widely by country. Some destinations we can help with on short notice; others (like the UK, EU, Japan, or Australia) have regulatory steps that take longer. Call us as soon as you know your travel date and we'll map out exactly what's needed.

What is the USDA APHIS Form 7001 and why do I need it?

+
USDA APHIS Form 7001 is the official US government health certificate for pet export. It can only be signed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and certifies that your pet meets the health requirements of the destination country. Without it, your pet will be denied entry — and potentially quarantined at your expense.

Does my pet need a microchip for international travel?

+
Yes — virtually all international destinations require an ISO 15-digit microchip (134.2 kHz standard) implanted before the rabies vaccination for it to count. If your pet has an older 9- or 10-digit microchip, you may need to get an additional one. We check this at your appointment and implant one if needed.

What is a rabies titer test and does my pet need one?

+
A rabies antibody titer test (FAVN test) measures the level of rabies antibodies in your pet's blood to prove vaccination effectiveness. It's required by the UK, the EU, Japan, Australia, and several other countries. The test must be done at least 30 days after a valid rabies vaccination, and many countries require a 3–6 month waiting period after a passing titer result before entry is allowed. We coordinate titer testing through the Kansas State Rabies Laboratory.

Can you certify multiple pets in one appointment?

+
Yes — we can certify multiple pets (dogs, cats, and birds) in a single appointment. Just let us know how many pets and their species when you book so we can allocate the right amount of time. Each pet will receive their own health certificate.

Do you handle the USDA endorsement step?

+
Yes — we guide you through the full USDA APHIS state-level endorsement process. We explain exactly what you need to submit, where to submit it, and the timing. Some clients choose to send paperwork themselves; others ask us to manage it on their behalf. Either way, we walk you through every step so nothing is missed.

My trip is coming up soon — is it too late?

+
Don't assume it's too late without calling us first. Every destination has different rules, and we've helped clients in situations that looked impossible on paper. For destinations with regulatory waiting periods (like the EU, UK, Japan, or Australia), we'll be honest with you — but we'll also help you find the fastest compliant path possible. Call us at 901-569-3711 and we'll tell you exactly where you stand in under 5 minutes.
